This article describes the multidisciplinary and international approach to ACIAR’s mung bean research in South Asia, coordinated by Dr Nair at WorldVeg. An award-winning Australian mungbean farmer has been assisting the team to adapt rice harvesters. Quality issues driven by markets are paramount, while the impacts on women (potentially positive or negative) are also being studied in depth. This work is all supported by the WorldVeg breeding and agronomy program.
