During 2014–15 and 2015–16 these trials were planted in various wheat-based cropping systems of Pakistan that included rice-wheat, cotton-wheat, maize-wheat, mung-wheat, and sugarcane-wheat. These used ridgers
with 3–4 shovels for furrow making, and around 70cm bed width. Despite water savings and yield increases enabling US$100/ha benefit, there were major constraints to adoption. These included low availability of ridgers with service providers at village level and difficulty engaging harvesting contractors due to perceived risk to combines. 2018
