Despite initiatives to improve the inclusion and status of women, discrimination against women remains a serious and entrenched problem in Pakistan. Women in rural areas suffer worse conditions than those in urban areas due to greater dominance of tribal, feudal and patriarchal traditions, as well as relative lack of employment opportunities, education and training facilities, and agricultural extension services.
