In Pakistan eucalypts have played an important role in salinity management. However, their proven ability to pump water from the ground into timber and the atmosphere (“biodrainage”) has sometimes been seen by farmers as a threat to their water supplies. These issues were explored by FAO in a major review in 1993, focused on Asia-Pacific. A few other references are listed on this resource page for interest only - not as a review of forestry/landuse.
