ACIAR SDIP

About the program

The ACIAR SDIP program aimed to improve food, energy and water security for sustainable food systems in India, Bangladesh and Nepal. Funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and ACIAR between 2012 – 2021, this work was part of a wider regional portfolio in South Asia that focused on integrated management of food, energy and water.

Using a long-term, gender-inclusive and highly collaborative approach, we aimed to understand and implement strategies which increase food security while reducing environmental impacts.

Our work explored the drivers and constraints that affect development of sustainable food systems in the wider South Asia region – including the growing challenges of climate change, and the need to promote gender equality by empowering women and girls.
