The Transformative Agriculture and Enterprise Development Program (TADEP) was a multidisciplinary research program that aimed to improve the livelihoods of rural men and women in Papua New Guinea. The program was co-funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the Australian Centre for Agricultural Research (ACIAR).
The program focused on opportunities to scale up successful innovations from previous ACIAR projects, with impetus provided by private-sector involvement, over larger areas and for more people. This intended to achieve economic benefits, especially increased employment and incomes in rural areas, and enhanced rural–urban supply chains. It worked in the sectors of greatest benefit to rural communities, and had a particular focus on the empowerment of women and commodities that could be brought to market.
The program had five impact-focused research for development projects:

Sweetpotato – HORT/2014/097 Supporting commercial Sweetpotato production and marketing in the Papua New Guinea highlands
