In recognition on unequal access to agricultural education and leadership positions, a new fellowship program for women agricultural researchers in the Indo-Pacific will open for applications in the second half of 2019. Still in development, the program delivers on ACIAR’s commitment made in the Gender Equity Policy and Strategy to develop a leadership program for women in agricultural science.
Open to women with a Bachelor qualification and above, the program will focus on leadership and high-level science skills. It also includes an institutional training element and support for in-country mentoring that recognises the importance of fostering support for women’s leadership within an organisation.
The fellowship will start in early 2020 with workshops in Australia and will run over 18 months.
More to come after Thursday workshop.
