More than half of the world’s farmers are women.
The evidence is clear that women are disproportionately affected by poverty. Ensuring women have equal access to resources and decision making is a direct route to reducing poverty for everyone – individuals, families and communities.
Across both the public and private sectors in many relatively wealthy industrialised countries, hard evidence shows that organisations drawing equally on the talents of women and men at all levels outperform those that do not.
It is clear that to pursue our strategic objectives around food security, poverty reduction, human health and nutrition or climate change, ACIAR must promote gender equity vigorously, both internally within our own organisation and with our research partners and other key stakeholders here in Australia as well as our partner countries in the developing world.
By creating this portal, we have collated stories and information and created a collection of resources relating to ACIAR's commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment that we hope will be informative and inspiring to everyone visiting these pages.
