Throughout mainland Southeast Asia, cassava (Manihot esculenta<\/em>) has become an important smallholder crop grown by millions of upland farmers. During the last decade, the area of cultivation has expanded rapidly to meet the growing demand for carbohydrates.<\/p>\n
